Friday's Hamilton County OVI Task Force checkpoints will take place in Cincinnati. Final details will be released tomorrow morning.
According to the OSHP website, The Patrol will be conducting a total of 18 OVI checkpoints in Athens, Brown, Gallia, Geauga, Hamilton, Huron, Jackson, Jefferson, Lucas, Madison, Mercer, Perry, Preble, Stark and Wood counties this weekend.
This article from The Sporting News, serves as a good reminder that there are collateral consequences related to a DUI or OVI conviction. Many people are familiar or are at least aware of some of the court ordered penalties when you are convicted of a DUI. However, a DUI can never be expunged in the State of Ohio, leaving many people with a criminal conviction on their records for life. Unfortunately, in this tough economy, this could be the difference between getting a job or being passed over. An OVI is the same as what people commonly refer to as a DUI, DWI or even Drunk Driving. They all refer to the same thing, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Ohio imposes serious criminal sanctions for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) or driving under the influence (DUI) conviction. Mandatory penalties can include incarceration, fines and a shattered reputation. If you are facing OVI/DUI charges, as well as other criminal charges, do not take the situation lightly. It is important to take these charges seriously. As a former Asst. Prosecutor for the City of Cincinnati, Nick has prosecuted numerous OVI's.
